Berlin har gennem det 20. århundrede været centrum for en række kunstneriske og kulturelle strømninger – fra de brølende 1920’ere med ekspressionisme og avantgarde, til nazitidens undertrykkelse, byens deling under Den Kolde Krig og genforeningen, som har skabt et pulserende nutidigt kulturliv.

I forelæsningen dykker vi ned i Berlins kunsthistorie og nutidige kunstscene og ser på, hvordan historiske omvæltninger og kulturelle strømninger har formet byen og dens identitet som kunstmetropol.

Throughout the 20th century, Berlin has been a center for numerous artistic and cultural movements – from the roaring 1920s with Expressionism and avant-garde, to the Nazi period, the city’s division during the Cold War, and its reunification, which has shaped today’s vibrant cultural life.
 

This lecture explores Berlin’s art history and contemporary art scene, highlighting how historical upheavals and cultural currents have shaped the city’s identity as a hub for art and creativity.
